Emilia Romagna/ Priamo Bocchi: "Ru486 at home? Throw away the fetus and flush it down the toilet." Another storm over the FdI councilor.

During the debate on a motion regarding voluntary termination of pregnancy (VTP) in the Emilia-Romagna regional council, Brothers of Italy councilor Priamo Bocchi made a statement that sparked intense controversy inside and outside the chamber. Referring to the abortion pill RU486, Bocchi stated: "The RU486 pill allows a woman to abort alone in her bathroom, expelling the fetus and flushing the toilet."
The statement, deemed shocking by many, immediately sparked outrage among numerous politicians, associations, and women's rights activists. Bocchi also stated that "in Emilia-Romagna, there is no problem for women seeking abortions," downplaying the difficulties reported by healthcare professionals and associations fighting for the right to abortion.
The controversy immediately erupted on social media and in the media, with requests for clarification and distancing from the regional council as well. The debate remains heated, with the issue of women's rights and access to abortion still at the center of the political and social scene in Emilia-Romagna.
