During the debate on a motion regarding voluntary termination of pregnancy (VTP) in the Emilia-Romagna regional council, Brothers of Italy councilor Priamo Bocchi made a statement that sparked intense controversy inside and outside the chamber. Referring to the abortion pill RU486, Bocchi stated: "The RU486 pill allows a woman to abort alone in her bathroom, expelling the fetus and flushing the toilet."
